Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

We are all back to the beginning! What do I mean? The Holiday Season! Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, though. Firstly, I would like to point out out the fact that today the countdown to Mayan doom starts! We are officially a year away from the end of the world. I did not mean to start this with such a dark and depressing input, however I know most of us are done being amazed by the 2012 myth after Shyamalan turned it into a huge Hollywood booster. So, I will be referring to today as the winter solstice since that is not really up for a long and Nostradamus-like discussion.
Winter solstice is definitely a day to celebrate. I am guessing not many of us enjoy turning on the lights at 4 pm. I am not even going to talk about the trouble our friends on the northern coast are having right around this time of the year. The evening starts at 2pm, it is freezing cold and the sun rises literally at 10 am. So...yes these are depressing times, no doubt. However, the holiday season has already started right when the joy is desperately needed. Yes, light your candles, stuff your huge holiday socks with wishes, make a hot coco with 5 marshmallows and a cinnamon stick, hopefully you will get just enough joy and avoid a severe sugar coma. Your day-time starts to get longer, starting today!
Christmas is almost here, no matter what your holiday traditions are, try to get into the spirit by showing sympathy and empathy  toward those who are less fortunate and light up a nice, artificial plastic Christmas tree in your living room. No matter how you think it only is a result of professional marketing, just do it anyway. The joy you get out of a nice Ella Fitzgerald Christmas song is worth a lot more than the trouble you go through with fashioning a little Christmas ambiance. Honestly, once you get into the Jingle Bells Rock mood, you will find yourselves standing above the oven, trying to figure out the Eggnog recipe.
Long story short, even if you think we are a year away from the actual doom, -especially if you believe the Mayan theory is correct- celebrate Christmas just for the hell of it or try to see it as pre-gaming for the big New Year party.  Get into it or ignore it, the holiday season is here for an incredibly fleeting period.
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a wonderful, glamorous New Year! --That is of course if your finals do not start on January 2nd and surely mine do. So, do the best you can. We are literally almost through and ready to start over! So, best of luck to everyone!

Short Fiction

We get up, we rush to work, we get late, we apologize, we take hell and can't react; therefore we are stressed out while doing the same routine over and over again. The chain of events in a day are most certainly fleeting but the the fact that they're also recurring, pushes us into a vicious circle and believe me people call that "vicious" for a pretty good reason.

I have recently remembered the long-forgotten power of reading fiction- not just to take our minds off of whatever circle is being vicious to us; but to really enjoy literarure with a pure artistc sense. While thinking you NEVER have any time for a nice, smooth read; I come bearing gifts! How about diving into the world of short fiction?

I don't know why this genre is not getting nearly the amount of attention and appreciation that it deserves but its amazing impact on you is much much longer than the story's length itself. I believe some may have an everlasting impact on people's lives and how they perceive the world, art, relationships and even the quiet noises in their heads. For anyone who wants to check out and dig deep into the genre; Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of the Red Death and Mauppassant's The Dancers along with his Clochette should give you a great lead. Keep reading even for a "short" time you never know how long its affects are going to keep you from your regular circles!
